"Celebrating People in Action"
Every year the Ronald McDonald House celebrates National Volunteer Week with a Volunteer Awards Dinner. This year the House celebrated in "Spring" style. Patty Rogers (Board Member) created and donated flower bouquets as table center pieces and Bertha Butts Balloonery and Baubles donated balloon arrangements, both giving a bright and colorful look to the room.
There were 29 guests, which included the following board members: Kristy Cain, David Cooper, David Hartman, Patty Rogers and Tim Hogan.
The awards given for the evening:
2009 Volunteer of the Year/framed House print: Hope Herrmann
50 hour/canvas bag: Laura Fraczek, Alicia Geiger, Joyce Knock and Rebekah Weicht
100 hour/candy jar: Iris Gorsche

| Hope Herrmann was awarded the 2009 Volunteer of the Year award.
Hope has been involved with the Ronald McDonald House since 2005, volunteering in many different ways. Here are just some of the ways she has impacted the Ronald McDonald House:
Relief Help Volunteer since 2005 for a total of 479.50 hours
Overnight relief help and brings her grandson Cameron to help bake cookies.
Remodeled room 212
Volunteered at the Des Moines Marathon at the Ronald McDonald House Water Station
Involved her entire family including her daughter Jen Clark and grandson Cameron Clark
And most of all been a wonderful, reliable volunteer and friend to the staff and families at the Ronald McDonald House.
