Sweet Surprises & Door Decorations

Sweet Surprises:

Sweet surprises are baskets or gifts that we set outside of each room the evening before a holiday, or random night to show an act of kindness to our families. This allows the families to wakeup to a surprise in the morning. We have 32 rooms in total, and appreciate having one per room in order for each room to receive a sweet surprise. These baskets can be catered to each individual holiday or season. Some popular items are activity books, card games, water bottles, coffee cups, pens, fun socks, lotion, or anything else that you think families would enjoy. We do not allow food and drinks in the rooms, so we do advise volunteer groups to keep these items to a minimum. This is a great option for volunteer groups to assemble a gift to give back to our families here at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa.

Door Decorations:

These are crafts that can be easily taped to our doors to help celebrate a holiday, or just make the House extra homey. Volunteers can provide door decorations for both Houses which include 32 rooms or focus on one of the Houses. We have 18 rooms at our House near Blank Children's Hospital and 14 rooms at our House at MercyOne Children's Hospital. Pinterest is a great resource for this.
