Collect Pop Tabs

The small tab on the top of your aluminum beverage might not seem like much, but when brought together in large quantities, they can make a monumental difference. Many groups such as schools, corporations, clubs and communities participate in this program and it's a simple way to make a big difference.

It takes approximately 1,128 pop tabs to equal one pound. We typically receive between $0.40 to $0.50 per pound of pop tabs. This program brings in an average of $3,000 each year. Last year you donated approximately 7.1 million pop tabs, amounting to $4,436! We accept more than just soda pop tabs. The tabs can come from energy drinks, soup cans, or anything with a metallic tab.

You can help the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa by collecting and donating aluminum pop tabs. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House's expenses such as electricity and water bills.

Collecting pop tabs is a great program that benefits the RMHC Central Iowa families and is easy to organize. All pop tab donations are welcome to be dropped off at the House between 8:00 am - 8:00 pm.

If you are in the Des Moines area and would like to pick up some of our pop tab cardboard Houses please feel free to stop by our 1441 Pleasant St, Des Moines, IA 50314 location Monday-Sunday any time from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. 

If you are out of the Des Moines area and aren't able to pick up one of our cardboard Houses, download and utilize these labels we have made for your collection containers.

At this time we are accepting pop tabs, please drop them off in our vestibule any time from 8am-8pm. If you have a large pop tab donation (trash bags, boxes, bins, etc.) call (515) 243-2111 before dropping them off.

HOST A Dipjar 

Place a Ronald McDonald House Dip Jar in your organization and raise funds for the House! This preset method of donating is fun and interactive. Just dip your card and watch it light up! If interested in hosting a Dip Jar at your business or organization contact brenda@rmhdesmoines.org.

 

How to incorporate a DipJar at your next Give Back event: 

- Hold a Jeans Day at the office

- We have 2 Dip Jars; host a philanthropic competition between departments or branches

- Have a Dip Jar available at a company event

- Encourage spontaneous giving within your organization by placing the Dip Jar in high traffic areas of your business any time of year
