Events

The Red Shoe Society will host a variety of events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. All young professionals are invited to come participate. Like to plan? Our Events Committee would love your help in planning fun and exciting events.

Volunteering

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities for all members of the Red Shoe Society. Whether it’s cooking a monthly meal for our families, joining our crew for House up-keep, or assisting at a RMHC annual event, the RSS works closely with the Ronald McDonald House to improve in all aspects of the organization through a variety of service activities.

Networking

Red Shoe Society members will connect with other young professionals interested in philanthropy, service and career development. The RSS will host relaxed, social events throughout the year for members to network with their peers.  All of the Red Shoe Society activities will provide members the advantage to meet a group of dedicated volunteers from a variety of educations, backgrounds and industries.  Additionally, Red Shoe Society membership provides the opportunity to interact with the Ronald McDonald House Board of Directors, who represent some of the finest community leaders in Central Iowa.

Fundraising

Some of our most creative, dedicated and enthusiastic members are always looking for exciting new ways to build community support for RMHC throughout Central Iowa. The Ronald McDonald House asks families to contribute $10 per night for their stay and no family is ever turned away for their inability to pay. The fundraising initiatives of the Red Shoe Society will help offset that cost. Members interested in helping the RSS fundraise for the House have a variety of opportunities to apply their unique skills to the success of the group.

Leadership

Looking for a new leadership opportunity? Want to build your professional skills while developing an organization with a great mission? There are a number of leadership opportunities within the Red Shoe Society. The RSS Board of Directors provides unique experience leading a diverse and enthusiastic group of young professionals on different committees that manage all aspects of the organization. Members are encouraged to sit on the group’s various committees that offer a hands-on role in the membership recruitment, sponsorship solicitation, service activities, marketing and events of the organization.  Participating in the Red Shoe Society prepares young professionals for membership on a non-profit or philanthropic board.

How to Get Involved

All young professionals between the ages of 21-40 are invited to join the Red Shoe Society.  Joining is as easy as filling out our online membership form. We ask members to contribute an annual donation of $20 as membership dues and in doing so you have paid for a family to stay for two nights!  If you would like more information on how you can contribute to one of the Red Shoe Society’s various committees, please contact Melissa at redshoesociety@rmhdesmoines.org.
